Journey Toward Brokenness; Gelassenheit – Chester Weaver

Session #10 on Saturday, March 13, 2010

Bro. Chester Weaver of LaGrange, IN

The natural man would say, “I will love myself first, and then I’ll love you if I want to.” Jesus said, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever desires to save his life, will loose it.

  1. I think most American “bible believing” Christians would not think there is anything wrong with wanting to “stand out” as long as you don’t put others down. In fact, they would think it’s a reflection of each person’s God-given uniqueness! Unfortunately, I think hardly any American Christians see the need to stand out as a problem. I know I didn’t for many years.
However, some objections to church standards are not about standing out. I know some folks who object to uniform dress standards because they want to be able to wear other people’s cast-off clothing (as long as its modest) because it’s cheaper. People can have both selfish and unselfish reasons for objecting to church standards.
