Born Anew From Above: How “Saved” Are We? – John D. Martin

Session #14 on Saturday, March 12, 2011

Bro. John D. Martin of Shippensburg, PA

It’s quite common to be confronted with the question, “My friend, are you saved?” Now, as an Anabaptist, how should you answer that question?

Culture: How Did We Get Here and Where Are We Going? – Michael Overholt

Session #13 on Saturday, March 12, 2011

Bro. Michael Overholt of Franklin, KY

We want to look a little at how cultures develop, and that is in an effort to better understand and appreciate our culture. We also want to note a few changes in our culture; this will be in very practical ways. And then to just consider developing ways to deal with those changes.

Leadership, Coverings & Hair: Curing Spinal Dis-ease – Chester Weaver

Session #12 on Saturday, March 12, 2011

Bro. Chester Weaver of LaGrange, IN

Does hair matter? Do coverings matter? Are we called to judge others? Do Jesus’ words, “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” still stand? “By their fruits ye shall know them.”, is that still valid? Am I responsible for what others do? Does my professed love for Jesus Christ give outward evidence? If I’m disobedient to clear Bible teaching, does that matter?

The Reason Covering Styles Change – Corey Anderson

Session #11 on Saturday, March 12, 2011

Bro. Corey Anderson of Newcomerstown, OH

Like most of the talks, I’m going to build, I guess we could say a rational case. I understand that there may be feelings on such a subject that’s close to home, and maybe you don’t have, if you could say, a rational response. That’s fine, I’m not demanding it, maybe someone will have rational response. I’d mainly like to get at the question of why the covering styles; … not so much appealing to personal convictions. But trying to develop a model, and explain why covering styles are changing in our setting.

Living With Apologetics: Compelling Reasons for the Journey – Chester Weaver

Session #10 on Saturday, March 12, 2011

Bro. Chester Weaver of LaGrange, IN

People who don’t want to believe; they have rational reasons that they have convinced themselves are good reasons when they’re bad reasons. Look folks, we’ve got to humble ourselves and face the facts wherever they are. Because all the facts are on God’s side. All truth is God’s truth. If something isn’t true, it’s not of God. And that gives us great comfort.

Between the Gods of Western Medicine and Eastern Mysticism | Part 2 – Clair Zimmerman

Session #9 on Saturday, March 12, 2011

Bro. Clair Zimmerman of Lititz, PA

If we’re not sure about something, we always have the avenue of prayer, crying out to God. I’ve heard it said different times already, even if there is a particular medicine we’re asked to take…. You know, we ask the Lord to bless and sanctify our food, why wouldn’t we do that with medicines as well.

The Lord’s Prayer: Why Did The Anabaptists Treasure It? – John D. Martin

Session #8 on Friday, March 11, 2011

Bro. John D. Martin of Shippensburg, PA

In Luke 11, we read that the disciples came to Christ with a request, and I think it’s interesting what they requested. They did not request to be taught (how) to preach, they did not request to be taught how to teach, how to heal, how to cast out demons, or how to do miracles. They asked Jesus to teach them to pray. And so he taught them this prayer that we are going to be looking at this evening, which actually has become a very neglected part of most of the church, but the Anabaptists retained their appreciation of this prayer.

Biblical Principles that Guide Our Lives – Ben Lapp

Session #7 on Friday, March 11, 2011

Bro. Ben Lapp of New Holland, PA

The presentation by Bro. Lapp consisted of a slide show with narration. At the current time, the slide show is not in a media type that we can present here on the website. Therefore, we have opted to not even present the audio narrative part of his presentation, as the audio and video must really be presented together. Thank you.

Recovery of Fervor and Sublimity of Primitive Christian Worship – Dave Graber

Session #6 on Friday, March 11, 2011

Bro. Dave Graber of Sarasota, FL

Humanity wants to worship; God wants us to worship him. What I’d like to teach in this message is, #1) I’d like to explain what worship is. #2) We want to worship God in spirit and in truth. #3) Genuine worship produces joy. #4) The importance of reverence in worship. and #5) Patterns and forms of worship. What I’m going to give to you this afternoon is almost exclusively about corporate worship.

Between the Gods of Western Medicine and Eastern Mysticism – Clair Zimmerman

Session #5 on Friday, March 11, 2011

Bro. Clair Zimmerman of Lititz, PA

Short history of medicine: Patient comes in to the doctor and says, “Doctor, I have an earache.” In 2000 BC, the doctor says, “Here, eat this root.” In 1000 AD, the doctor says, “The root is heathen, say this prayer.” In 1850, the doctor says, “The prayer is superstition, drink this potion.” In 1940, the doctor says, “The potion is snake oil, swallow this pill.” In 1985, the doctor says, “The pill is ineffective, take this antibiotic.” In 2000, the doctor says, “The antibiotic is artificial, eat this root.”

Confusion? Deception? What is going on here?
